Why Do You Love?

Today I asked myself : Why Do I Love God?  I pondered that question for a moment and came to this conclusion:  I love God because HE is God!  I don't really have to have a reason to love him.  I just love him.  He doesn't have to do anything for me to love him.  He doesn't have to make me wealthy before I decide to love him.  He doesn't have to make me famous before I decide to love him.  He doesn't have to allow me to live in a 4,000 square foot home for me to love him.  He doesn't have to allow me to drive the most expensive car for me to love him.  I love him simply because. 

Have you ever loved someone simply for who they are or do they have to benefit you before you can love them?  Do they have to belong to a certain status of people before you can love them?  Do they have to dress a certain way before love can be shown towards them? If carnal reasons are what you use as a basis for love, you just might miss real love or a chance at displaying real love to others and what a missed oppoortunity that would be!

God loves us simply because. We didn't have to do anything for him to obtain that love. He showed love first and in a big way!  He sent his only begotten son to die for us. The bible says while we were yet sinners he loved us.  Even thought we were in the worst status bracket spiritually, he still showed love and compassion towards us.  We didn't do anything to deserve the love he showed. He loves us simply because. Since we are made in his image and in his likeness, we should likewise show love SIMPLY BECAUSE.
